在新石器时代中晚期的文化遗址中发现了更多的陶制动物雕塑作品。仰韶文化的半坡遗址出土有狗首鸟尾的陶塑器柄。湖北天门出土的湖北龙山文化时期的一群人与动物陶塑，数量众多，除羊、狗、鸡等家畜家禽外，还有大象和乌龟。这些随手捏成的小陶塑，能够表现动物活动中的神态。如狗和鸟的动作变化很多，有的扭首伫立，有的回头仰望，有的低头觅食，有的狗背上还栖着一只鸟。
More pottery brake sculptures have been found in the cultural sites of the middle and late Neolithic Age. Pottery sculpture handle with dog head and bird tail is unearthed from Banpo site of Yangshao culture. There are a large number of pottery sculptures of human beings and animals unearthed from Longshan Culture in Tianmen, Hubei Province. Besides sheep, dogs, chickens and other livestock and poultry, there are also elephants and turtles. These handmade small pottery sculptures can show the attitude of animal activities. For example, there are many changes in the movements of dogs and birds. Some stand twisting their heads, some look back, some look down for food, and some have a bird on their back.
